Wine Country
Places That Transcend Time
For thousands of years, wine has represented one of the great harmonies between nature and mankind. From the first miracle in the Gospel of John, to the vibrant vineyards perfected by science flourishing around the world today, wine continues to echo its rich history and cultural significance serving not only as a companion to meals, but also as a symbol of celebration and connection. The Wine Country Collection represents places that transcend time, reminding us of our shared experiences and the beauty of life's simplest pleasures.
As a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers and a perpetual student in the world of wine, in July of 2024 Bobby spent the month exploring and documenting the north coast wine country. From sweeping vinescapes to the coastal influences that shape them, from micro details of grapes to the methods by which they become wine, Bobby’s Wine Country Collection offers an in-depth look at one of the world’s most iconic wine regions.
Using both his traditional FILM approach as well as utilizing drone technology for the first time in his career, the portfolio offers a variety of perspectives for the traditionalists as well as the modern art lovers.
Age Before Beauty
The Cool and the Quiet of a Napa Barrel Room
Vintage
Edition of 18 (Edition Closing Soon)
Shen Hao 4×5 View Camera, Kodak E100 Film, f22 @ 4 Seconds
Vintage was photographed during a month-long stay in Sonoma and Napa Valley in which Bobby was preparing for his Certified Sommelier Exam through the Court of Master Sommeliers. The image quickly met great success in the gallery becoming the 2019 Patrons’ Choice, and as it stands, more than 80% of the edition has been sold. A 6-minute exposure on 4x5 film was the only truly fitting way to tell the story of this cellar high in the mountains above the Napa Valley. While wine is often misconstrued as the nectar of the pretentious, this could not be further from the truth. Any truly great wine is the culmination of a year of diligent labor, precise attention to detail, and finally the patient quiet aging of a well timed harvest.

A summer sunrise brings a soft glow to the estate vines of Scribe Winery in the “coolest” spot in Napa. Located on the Napa and Sonoma county line in the southernmost Carneros Region near the San Pablo Bay, Scribe is an old-world style producer that makes some of Bobby’s favorite wines across the board, especially their Pinot Noirs.

The last rays of the setting sun cast long shadows over the cabernet vines in the Alexander Valley. Just 5 minutes from Bobby and Haley’s home base on a month-long project photographing the wine country of Northern California Bobby found a scene that he would return to on 6 different occasions before finally catching a perfect sunset to tell it's story.

Country Road
Edition of 11 (Edition Closing Soon)
Shen Hao 4×5 View Camera, Fuji Provia Film, f22 @ 1/15 Second
A staple in Bobby’s Signature Film Negatives Series, Country Road offers a modern interpretation of a traditional scene in the heart of Sonoma Wine Country. The piece has been installed in homes from coast to coast in the United States and was featured in Charleston Style and Design Magazine. On a cloudless day over the Russian River Valley, a film negative offers insight into the exotic and transformative qualities of the natural world. Even under the most ordinary conditions when colors seem dull under harsh light, time alone in nature offers inspiration enough to transcend circumstances and aspire to new realities.

During the Spring of 2020, Bobby’s gallery was forced to close for 2 months so Bobby took the opportunity to travel for two of those weeks from Vegas to Oregon to create new material. His first stop was in the hills of Paso Robles, California where he found this scene at sunrise between Paso and the coastal town of Cambria. Diffused sunlight shines through clearing fog offering a subtle contrast as the world awakens with the soft colors of early spring.
