Marine Layer

from $4,450.00

Edition of 21

Bobby’s Recommended Presentation | Museum Mount (Floating) Presentation or Our Gallery Modern (Slim 3/8”W Black Frame) Presentation both suit this image beautifully.

Photographed on 4×5 Film from a vantage point high above the Pacific Ocean in the Fort Ross Seaview AVA of Sonoma County the Marine Layer makes its daily return to the coastline as warm temperatures draw it back inland from the sea. As a result, temperatures can plummet nearly 50 degrees from their daytime highs. The frigid temperature of the northern Pacific Ocean is perhaps the most influential factor affecting the wine regions of Northern California. From Napa to Sonoma and north to Mendocino and Lake Counties, the cold air off of the Pacific is pulled inland through a series of gaps in the coastal range each night acting as a moderator and counter balance to the hot daytime temperatures, thus preserving the acidity of the grapes and leading to wines of beautiful balance.

Location | Fort Ross Seaview AVA, California

Medium and Materials | Chromogenic Print from Film on Fuji Crystal Archive Paper, Face-Mounted with 2 layers of UV protection in the Bobby Wheat Gallery’s Signature ANTIGLARE Presentation.

Camera and Film Used | Shen Hao 4x5 View Camera with Fuji Provia Film

Edition Size | Edition of 21 + 2 Artist’s Proofs for a Total of 23 Enlargements Regardless of Size (Your Edition Number will be assigned by the Bobby Wheat Gallery After Checkout)
