Liberty
Edition of 21
Mamiya 7ii Camera + 5 Exposures on a Single Frame of Kodak Portra Film
Photographed on FILM and Printed as Negative, Liberty is a work of modern art from 5 Exposures on a single frame of Kodak Portra Film offering multiple perspectives of Lower Manhattan via sailboat.
“Sometimes when you are in a beautiful place, it’s very difficult to choose which perspective to focus on (no pun intended). So I just decided to photograph as many as I could and do it all on a single sheet of film.”

The Diverse and Timeless Role of Black & White
A Renaissance of the Old Ways
While black and white represents the most primal form of the photographic medium, it has reemerged as the modern, do-everything CEO of the fine art world.
Designers often use opposite colors for contrast and like colors for harmony. Remove color entirely, and the composition itself takes over that dialogue. A classic subject can inject energy and contrast into a sleek modern interior, or reinforce the warm harmony of a traditional room. Flip the dynamic, and a modern image brings a striking contemporary twist to a classic home while feeling native to a modern space.
Simplified into the basic components of light, texture, and form—and completely unbound by color trends—black and white commands a room without clashing, serving as a timeless centerpiece that adapts as any space evolves.

Edition of 11
Pentax 67 Camera, Fuji Provia Film, f22 @ 1/8 Second
Backlighting on an aspen tree against a shadowed hillside offers a modern and minimalist interpretation of the beauty that abounds in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. This is already becoming a gallery favorite and pairs beautifully with its Film Negative Companion, Glow Inversion.

A Wild Side of Bobby’s Signature Film Negatives Series
Dark Horse
Mamiya 7ii Camera, Kodak Portra Film, f8 @ 1/125 Second
Dark Horse from Bobby’s Signature Film Negatives Series is a modern reflection (both literally and metaphorically) on a subject that has captivated the hearts of mankind back to the earliest days of recorded history. They are creatures of complexity, meek and mighty, power and grace, and in this case Portra Film offers an insight unlike any other film into the beautiful bright side of this mysterious Dark Horse.

An Entire City on a Single Frame of Film
Windows of Venice
Edition of 11
Mamiya 7ii Camera, 5 Exposures on a Single Frame of Fuji Provia Film
Windows of Venice along with Signs Everywhere represent another pivotal point in Bobby’s evolution as an artist. The idea started with his image Deux Lieux (French for Two Places) - created after a single sheet of 4x5 film was accidentally exposed twice in two different locations in Colmar, France.
Windows of Venice and Signs Everywhere took the idea a step further by exposing a single frame of medium format film 5 or more times (each with a subject matter theme) - remembering with each exposure where the previous exposures were positioned on the film in order to achieve an overall balanced composition - and then printing them as negatives. This series of works marks yet another milestone in Bobby’s break with the traditional views of the photographic medium into a style all his own, offering the viewer an almost abstract aesthetic with a sense of place.

Finding the Extraordinary Under Ordinary Circumstances
Country Road
Edition of 11 (Edition Closing Soon)
Shen Hao 4×5 View Camera, Fuji Provia Film, f22 @ 1/15 Second
A staple in Bobby’s Signature Film Negatives Series, Country Road offers a modern interpretation of a traditional scene in the heart of Sonoma Wine Country. The piece has been installed in homes from coast to coast in the United States and was featured in Charleston Style and Design Magazine. On a cloudless day over the Russian River Valley, a film negative offers insight into the exotic and transformative qualities of the natural world. Even under the most ordinary conditions when colors seem dull under harsh light, time alone in nature offers inspiration enough to transcend circumstances and aspire to new realities.

Surf Silence
Edition of 11
Fuji GX617 Camera, Fuji Provia Film, f32 @ 2 Minutes
“Photography” when literally translated means to paint with light. When used properly with preconceived creativity, the camera allows one to paint the real world in a very surreal manner. An extremely long 2-minute exposure drastically exaggerates the texture of this scene over the Pacific Ocean viewed from a beach just south of the San Clemente Pier on the coast of southern California. It was an evening so clear that Catalina Island can be seen on the horizon nearly 40 miles away.

In A Traditional Space
Sierra Secrets
Edition of 11
Shen Hao 4×5 View Camera, Fuji Provia Film, f45 @ 1/8 Second
Photographed in August 2020 on a 28-Mile, 4-Day through hike from Mammoth to Silver Lake, California, Sierra Secrets was Bobby’s first release in his Summit Series. Nearly 9 miles from the nearest trailhead, Cecile Lake sits on the High Sierra Route between Minaret and Iceberg Lakes at the base of the Minaret Range, one of the most jagged and dramatic stretches of peaks in all of the Sierra Nevada.
Photographed on 4×5 Film and Printed as a Negative, the piece merges the backcountry of the Sierra Nevada with Bobby’s Signature Film Negatives Series showing that even with “old-school” techniques and traditional subject matter, the camera is still very much a tool for Modern Art.
