Red Rock Canyon
From the More Remote Southern Boundary
Black Velvet
Edition of 21
Fuji GX617 Camera, Kodak E100 Film, f32 @ 1/2 Second
An epic ending to a perfect spring day exploring and climbing in Black Velvet Canyon, Black Velvet captures the awe-inspiring natural beauty of Las Vegas as the setting sun breaks through an overcast sky over the sandstone giants of Red Rock Canyon.
“My first day out attempting to find a composition of Red Rock from its southern boundary was one for the books. After a jaunt into Black Velvet and sending a highball boulder I’ve wanted to try for a while, I was rewarded with a moment of splendor on the way home.” - Bobby Wheat

Mamiya 7ii Camera, Kodak E100 Film, f22 @ 4 Seconds
“On a whim in October Haley and I decided to book last minute to a “fall” location and decided on the Niagara Falls area (Niagara on the Lake is wonderful). While I’m not big on tourist-y locations, I was blown away at the sheer magnitude of everything about this place.I simply cannot wrap my head around that much water flowing ceaselessly over the edge of those falls, 24/7, 365 days a year. Incredible.” - Bobby Wheat

The Great Smoky Mountains
Down in the Tennessee Hills
Summer in the Smokies
Mamiya 7ii Camera, Kodak E100 Film, f22 @ 2 Seconds
“While I’m pushing for our daughter to go to UNLV after next year, we spent the summer visiting her top college choices, and Haley and I immediately fell in love with the area around Knoxville, Tennessee. The Smoky Mountains are indeed massive mountains, green, with rivers and photographic opportunities at every turn - a beautiful contrast to our beloved home here in the desert.
I’ll never leave Vegas, but I can see us eventually spending part of the year down in the Tennessee Hills.” - Bobby

Bobby’s Lifelong Passion Project in the Sierra Nevada Continues
Granite Park Alpenglow
Edition of 21
Shen Hao 4×5 View Camera, Fuji Provia Film, f45 @ 8 Minutes
Bobby’s Summit Series continued over the summertime with a 25-mile trek with his 4×5 Camera into Granite Park and Bear Lakes Basin in one of the most remote corners of the Sierra Nevada. A somewhat grueling undertaking was rewarded on the second morning with a sunrise for the ages that yielded three epic images from before dawn until direct light on the peaks. The first of the three was an 8-minute exposure just as the early morning alpenglow brought life to the rugged peaks above Granite Park.
