Bobby’s Red Rock Collection
15 Years of Red Rock Canyon on Film
For fifteen years, Bobby Wheat has carried his cameras from his home in Summerlin through Red Rock Canyon, returning in different seasons of life and light.
Here you’ll find Bobby’s complete (but always expanding) Red Rock archive along with a map of his image locations — color and black-and-white, traditional landscapes and modern abstractions, images made while climbing its sandstone walls, and moments exploring from the valley floor. A collection shaped by time, patience, and the simple act of paying attention to the wonder in our own Vegas backyard.
Red Rock Canyon
A Rare Perspective
Magic Mountain | Behind the Scenes
Magic Mountain
Edition of 11 (Edition Closing Soon)
Photographed on the summit of a sub peak of Juniper Peak, Magic Mountain offers an awe-inspiring view highlighting many of the most prominent features of the Red Rock Range. The summit of Rose Tower hundreds of feet below and the 1200 ft Aquarium Wall give way to the iconic Rainbow Wall and Rainbow Peak rising more than 2000 feet from the valley floor, with Mount Wilson - the tallest of the sandstone peaks - completing the distant left third of the composition.
“Climbing these walls has opened my eyes to a world that I didn’t know existed. Much like rock climbing, this image elicits a healthy fear and respect for the untamed grandeur and permanence of these mountains, and at the same time a sense of awe and peace from being immersed in such vast beauty. I can see these peaks from my home in Summerlin, and they never cease to inspire me. I will never take them for granted, and I wanted to share their story in a way that had never been done before.” - Bobby Wheat

The Abstraction + Desert Lightning
Modern Art from 4x5 Film + Red Rock Canyon
Roughly halfway through (and a short scramble off of) the 5.2-mile Kraft Mountain Loop Trail lies one of the most beautiful faces of rock in all of Red Rock Canyon.
A notoriously difficult climb with a gnarly landing on jagged talus, this 20 foot boulder is as striking visually as it is physically for the elite few strong enough to climb it. Here in the low light of January, the long shadows of winter highlight the dramatic texture of the sandstone face. Named after the iconic V8 (Very Difficult Grade) Boulder Problem, The Abstraction aptly describes one of the great natural works of art found in our Las Vegas backyard. Live Inspired.

Climbing Yin and Yang Wall
Yin and Yang
Edition of 11
Shen Hao 4×5 View Camera, Fuji Provia Film, f45 @ 1/8 Second
In the heart of Calico Basin lies one of Red Rock Canyon’s most formidable features: the Yin and Yang Wall. Standing at its base in February 2024, Bobby made a pact—he would not photograph the scene until he had successfully lead climbed the iconic, curving splitter crack that defines it.
What followed was a two-year masterclass in humility and perseverance in his Summerlin backyard. Through setbacks, injury, and months of solitary training, he returned in February 2026 to complete a clean lead ascent—finally capturing the wall he spent two years earning.
