Summer Blues was the first piece ever placed on view for the gallery’s Grand Opening in 2011, and remains one of the most iconic pieces ever released in Bobby’s body of work. While this scene has since become an icon in the photography world, Bobby’s version was the first interpretation of this scene to ever be inducted in the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) Loan Collection (One of the World’s Highest Photographic Honors) and is one of the only interpretations captured in a completely analogue manner offering the unparalleled resolution and authenticity that can only come from FILM. While Bobby’s style has evolved away from the more popular scenes in the world, this piece remains one of his favorites for several reasons as its commercial success in his early years allowed him the means to continue to build his portfolio into what it has become. The gallery would not have survived the first year without this piece. It was the spark that ignited his career.
